The summer travel season in 2025 starts on July 1st and ends on August 31st, lasting 62 days. Amid high temperatures, humid weather and the flood season, coupled with increased daily commuter flow and tourist traffic, BJMTR, while ensuring daily operations, has proactively formulated targeted support plans across all its lines based on summer weather and passenger flow characteristics. Through optimizing train operation organization, implementing crowd control measures, and delivering quality services, BJMTR fully activates its "Summer Travel Support" mode. It is estimated that the total ridership during this summer travel season will reach 140 million passenger trips.
The‘courtesy seat’signs on all trains of Line 14 have been renewed
To continuously enhance passengers' travel experience, BJMTR has been optimizing service details. Recently, the optimization of the 'courtesy seat sign' on all trains of Line 14 has been completed, with sign featuring prominent red and white color schemes and larger font posted on seat backs and corresponding walls, significantly improving visibility and greatly facilitating passengers in need to quickly locate them. Currently, the update work for the 'courtesy seat’ sign on trains of Line 4-Daxing and Line 16 is also progressing steadily as planned.
Railway station transfer services have become more thoughtful. During the summer travel season, station staff at railway transfer hubs will closely monitor passenger flow and weather conditions. By coordinating with railway departments to secure information on additional train services and peak arrival times, preparations are made for operating temporary trains and extending service hours to ensure smooth passenger travel. On Line 4's Beijing South Railway Station and Line 16's Fengtai Railway Station, services including real-time guidance, luggage carts, convenience kits, and signboard navigation have been introduced, enhancing convenience from multiple aspects. Additionally, direction cards have been provided at 17 stations such as Lize Shangwuqu Station on Line 14 and Dawang Lu Station; meanwhile, translation machines have been set up at 13 stations including Workers' Stadium Station, addressing diverse passenger needs and making travel more convenient.
Beat the heat, travel in comfort. Before trains on lines operated by BJMTR are put into service, functional tests of the air conditioning system are conducted to ensure normal operation of the ventilation and cooling systems. The target temperature in carriages is flexibly adjusted according to weather conditions. For lines with open-air sections, such as Line 4-Daxing and Line 14, trains are cooled in advance before leaving the depots, ensuring a cool and comfortable travel environment for passengers.
