On April 27, 2014, a freshly decorated train appeared at Majiapu depot of BJMTR. This is BJL4 Children University Special Train specially decorated for BJL4 Children University activity in 2014. 2014 is the 2nd year of BJL4 Children University project jointly hosted by BJMTR and Foreign Language Teaching and Research Institute. The lively opening ceremony, exciting exploration and attractive presentation and exchange of metro knowledge give the “Children students” and their parents the first glimpse of stories behind the running trains. Deputy General Manager of BJMTR Ms. Zheng Yanping, Vice Secretary of CCP of FLTRI and Head of Engineering Mr. K. S. Chan took part in the opening ceremony. Ms. Zheng Yanping expressed that as a large cultural welfare project, BJL4 Children University created precious opportunities for children to have face-to-face exchange with experts and achieved fruitful results in 2013. The focus of activities in 2014 is metro transport and astronomy, it will help more children to access knowledge in these fields, extend their view scope and foster their curiosity.

BJMTR and FLTRI initiated BJL4 Children University cultural public welfare project in 2013. The theme of the activities in 2013 is“ Exploring ancient buildings”. Dr. Yao Yuan from Nanjing University, Journalist of Xinhua News Agency Mr. Wang Jun and Professor Dr. Xiao Dongfa guided the students in exploring ancient buildings in Yuanmingyuan, Tsinghua university and Beijing University – Pearls along BJL4. “Use your eyes to seek knowledge, Use your feet to map Beijing”, BJL4 Children University becomes a brilliant spot in out-school children’s education in Beijing.
