After the opening of the north section and the middle section of Line 16 in 2016 and 2020 respectively, stations of the south section of Line 16 are under active and orderly preparation. The south section of Line 16, with a total length of about 14.3 kilometers, starts from Muxidi in the north to Yushuzhuang in the south. With 10 stations in total, the south section of Line 16 will connect with the north and middle sections after opening.
The south section of Line 16 will connect with the north and middle section on the opening day. It only takes 78 minutes from Bei’anhe station in the north of Beijing to Yushuzhuang station in the south. After the south section of Line 16 commences service and connects with the north and middle sections, the total daily patronage of the line could reach 350,000. Based on the research on the characteristics of passenger flow, stations and transfers, Line 16 will adopt single-turn routing mode, with the minimum headway of 6 minutes during morning and evening peak hours on weekdays and 8 minutes during off-peak hours on weekdays and weekends.
Intelligent cleaning robots will be equipped at stations in the south section of Line 16. The robot can clean the ground while disinfecting the air. AR glasses will also be piloted in the emergency response of Line 16 to further ensure the safe travel of passengers.
Fengtai Railway station of Line 16 is connected with the largest railway station of Asia and can also transfer to Line 10. After the opening, it is estimated that the average daily patronage can reach 43,000. To facilitate the transfer of passengers, BJMTR has set up a transfer guide board at Fengtai Railway station of Line 16, which clearly demonstrates the transfer path and transfer distance at a glance. Meanwhile, Fengtai Railway Station of Line 16 is equipped with five elevators for passengers with large luggage. Five customer service centers will also provide passengers with better services such as ticket processing and information inquiry. Fengtai Railway station and Daguanying station in the south section of Line 16 and other stations with large passenger flow will place hand sanitizer at places where passengers may have frequent contact for the convenience of passengers, such as ticket vending machines and elevators.
