On Saturday, December 30, 2023, the north section of Line 17 opened as well as Line 16 achieved through-train service of BJMTR.
The operation of the north section of Line 17 is organized according to the timetable of weekends, with eight-minute headway throughout the whole day. As of 5 PM on that day, the total passenger traffic of the north section of Line 17 reached 43,576. Among which, the stations with a larger traffic included Workers' Stadium station with 10231 passengers and Tiantongyuandong station with 7,870 passengers. The overall passenger flow organization was smooth and orderly.
The operation of Line 16 is organized according to the timetable of weekends, with eight-minute headway throughout the whole day. As of 5 PM on that day, the total passenger traffic of the remaining section of Line 16 and Suzhou Jie station reached 9,511. The overall passenger flow organization was smooth and orderly.
Furthermore, both the newly opened Taiyanggong station on the north section of Line 17 and Suzhou Jie station on Line 16 can be interchanged with Line 10. As of 5 PM on that day, the interchange traffic at Taiyanggong station on Line 17 reached 12,798, while the interchange traffic at Suzhou Jie station on Line 16 reached 1,958.
On the day the two new lines (sections) of the BJMTR were opened, the relevant officials of BJMTR interacted with passengers at stations such as Taiyanggong station and Workers' Stadium station on the north section of Line 17 and presented exquisite gifts to the passengers. The passengers expressed that they had long awaited the opening of the new line, and the opening of the new stations has brought them greater convenience for their travel.
Meanwhile, on the first day of the opening, the BJMTR also collaborated with the Beijing Sign Language Research Association and Beijing Association of Persons with Hearing Disabilities in organizing the " Travel with love " public charity art exhibition at Taiyanggong station on the north section of Line 17.
