BJL4 in Trial Operation for 4 Years, Transported over 1.3 Billion Passengers

September 28, 2013 is the 4th anniversary of the opening of BJL4. Statistics shows that this line transported over 1.3 billion passengers in these 4 years. The highest daily patronage is recorded at 1.524 million.  In these 4 years, the total running car-km is 138 million car-km, the availability is 99.93% and the punctuality is 99.80%. All the operation index is good and the overall operation is stable and orderly.

Since the opening of this line, BJMTR has made over 10 optimizations and shortened the headway several times to maximize the capacity to address the ever increasing passenger flow and raise the operation service level.  The minimum headway on weekdays was shortened from 3’on opening day to 2’now. Through adding special train trips, the actual min. headway at morning peak hours is cut to 1’43” which is the shortest in Beijing metro network.

As a responsible enterprise, BJMTR conducted over 20 promotions on safety and other public welfare topics including what are the proper behavior while riding metro. These activities aim to forge a new metro culture together with communities along the line to improve the living quality of people in the communities.  In July 2013, together with Foreign Language Teaching and Research Institute, BJMTR set up a Children’s University at stations of BJL4. The feature of this university is to provide opportunities to children to exchange with professors and scholars face to face on rich culture relics along BJL4. This initiative is widely appreciated by passengers.  In the future, BJMTR will carry out more interactive activities with passengers and communities to nourish a safer and more harmonious metro environment.
