BJL4 & DXL Transported 11.184 Million and BJL14 Transported 0.496 Million During National Holidays

During the National Holidays (October 1 – October 7) 2013, BJL4 & DXL transported 11.184 million passengers ( BJL4:  9.317 million, daily average 1.331 million; DXL: 1.867 million, daily average 0.267 million) and BJL14 west section transported 0.496 million (Daily average 71 thousand). In these 7 days, BJMTR arranged 7441 train trips at its operating lines. Timetable for holiday and weekend was applied at BJL4 & DXL, timetable for weekend was applied at BJL14 West section.  The availability and punctuality were all at 100%, the operation is stable and orderly.

To address the large passenger flow during holidays and ensure safe travel of the passengers, BJMTR monitored and analyzed the trend of the passenger flow attentively. It optimized the traffic organization by combining timetable for holiday and weekend. A total of 84 special train trips were added (14 for BJL4 & DXL and 70 for BJL14 west section) to release the pressure at peak hours.  Meanwhile, BJMTR is preparing for extending the operation hours of BJL14.

Dynamic restriction and temporary closure was applied at Beijing Zoo station this year during the holiday instead of a cut-off closure in the past years.  Thanks to the Integrated Data Management System, BJMTR set an alarming threshold for each station at BJL4. Taking Beijing Zoo station as example, if there are 2 consecutive hours in which the passenger flow is over 5000 every half hour, the alarming will be triggered, and restriction will be applied during the peak hours for returning trip in the afternoon. To safeguard the safety of the passengers during National Holidays, this system helped BJMTR to analyze passenger flow and provide alarming so as to enable it to apply dynamic restriction and temporary closure instead of cut-off closure for a whole day.
