During the Spring Festival travel rush, BJMTR added 163 temporary trains, extended operating hours for 10 days, and implemented multiple customized services to ensure safe and smooth travel for passengers.

The 2025 Spring Festival travel rush will commence on January 14 and conclude on February 22, spanning 40 days. To ensure passengers' safe and smooth travel during this period, BJMTR has meticulously planned and implemented a series of tailored measures. These include optimizing passenger transport organization, extending operating hours, enhancing equipment maintenance, and rolling out multiple considerate services, all dedicated to safeguarding passengers' journeys.

During the Spring Festival travel rush, the lines operated by BJMTR safely transported approximately 68.313 million passengers. Compared with 2024, the total ridership of lines operated by BJMTR saw a year-on-year increase of 0.9%. Among them, the ridership of Line 4-Daxing reached approximately 30.139 million, Line 14 reached 24.645 million, Line 16 reached 9.432 million, the southern section of Line 17 reached 2.035 million, and the northern section of Line 17 reached 2.062 million. A total of 163 additional trains were operated, ensuring sufficient transport capacity to guarantee passengers' smooth travel.

During the Spring Festival travel rush, among the lines operated by BJMTR, the top three stations with the highest daily passenger traffic were Beijing South Railway station on Line 4-Daxing (254,000 passengers), Fengtai Railway station on Line 16, and Yuanmingyuan Park station on Line 4-Daxing. The top three stations for transfer traffic were Jintailu station, Wangjing station, and National Library station. For these “high-traffic” stations, BJMTR implemented a refined management approach with a tailored plan for each station. This approach focuses on maintaining platform order, optimizing the flow of passengers entering and exiting stations, and providing efficient crowd guidance services to ensure smooth travel for passengers.

Extend operating hours to make late-night passengers feel more at ease.

During the Spring Festival travel rush, in response to the concentrated outbound and return passenger flows, BJMTR focused on strengthening railway transfer services between the metro and train stations, particularly at Beijing South Railway station on Lines 4 and Line 14, and Fengtai Railway station on Line 16. Through close collaboration with the railway department and real-time monitoring of railway passenger flow and train schedules, BJMTR dynamically adjusted and optimized metro capacity allocation. To facilitate travel for returning passengers, Fengtai Railway station on Line 16 implemented an early opening service, while Line 4, Line 14, and Line 16 extended operating hours to accommodate late-night arrivals. Statistics show that from January 14 to February 22, BJMTR extended services for 10 days across its network, transporting nearly 30,000 passengers, fully ensuring the travel needs of passengers during the Spring Festival and providing late-night travelers with a sense of care and warmth.

Multiple thoughtful services launched to enhance passenger travel experience

During the Spring Festival travel rush, BJMTR implemented a series of considerate service measures at railway transfer stations and stations near tourist attractions and commercial areas to enhance passenger comfort and convenience. At railway transfer stations, services such as "Portable Guides", luggage carts, passenger-friendly utility kits, and convenient direction cards were introduced to facilitate easy travel for passengers. At stations near tourist attractions and commercial areas, temporary directional signs and station notices were created and posted, and staff resources were managed efficiently to guide the large flow of passengers entering and exiting the stations. Additionally, during the Spring Festival travel rush, Beijing South Railway station on Line 14 and Fengtai Railway station on Line 16 were decorated with a “Next Stop·Home” theme. During the return journey, an interactive photo spot with the theme “This Stop·Waiting for You” was set up at Fengtai Railway station on Line 16, offering passengers warm New Year wishes.

Strengthened equipment support detected 10,719 prohibited items

During the Spring Festival travel rush, BJMTR implemented multiple measures to strengthen metro safety. In terms of equipment assurance, maintenance departments across all lines significantly enhanced the inspection frequency and maintenance standards for key facilities such as vehicles, platform screen doors, and escalators to ensure safe and stable operation of the operational system. Regarding security control, the "person and belongings simultaneous inspection" policy was strictly enforced with intensified efforts to detect prohibited items, resulting in the confiscation of 10,719 prohibited items. Meanwhile, train attendants worked in close coordination with train and station staff to maintain carriage order, collectively creating a safe and orderly travel environment for passengers.
